The Moment the Glasses Come Off

A note from Lady Humanity

There comes a moment in any room — or any conversation — when it’s time to take the glasses off.

Not because the view is clearer without them. But because the pretense, the posture, and the performance must fall away.

That moment has arrived here, at Equity in Ink.

Too much of our public dialogue is performance art — a flurry of clever words meant to confuse, distract, or impress.
My mother taught me better than that.

She never had to tell me outright when something wasn’t right.
She laid out the facts, then waited — calmly, expectantly — for me to think, see, and choose what needed to be done.

This is how I was raised. This is how I write.
This is how Lady Humanity now invites you to listen.

Here, you will not be told what to think.
You will not be told who to fear, who to worship, or who to dismiss.
You will be given receipts.
You will be given context.
You will be given perspective that power structures hope you’ll never access.

And then, you will be trusted to rise.

When you read this blog — when you enter the presence of The People’s Pen — come correct.
This space is not for the performative, nor the passive.

It is for those ready to listen deeply, think boldly, and act justly.

If you must adjust your seat, do so now.
If you need to remove your own glasses — literal or figurative — I suggest you do that, too.

Ethics. Equity. Action.
Let’s begin.
